Yarning Straight Out (YSO) is an online digital screening and information sharing tool used to educate 15-25 years old Victorian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander youth, on relevant and important facts surrounding drug and alcohol intake.
Sometimes it can be very confronting for a young person to get information on a topic that is potentially taboo. YSO aims to be a peak information and ‘go-to’ service for our Victorian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander youth.
YSO was created to be easy to understand and interactive.
This tool is NOT a treatment tool, it is an early intervention tool with a secondary audience of Alcohol and Other Drugs workers, health professionals, teachers and Communities.
If you would like further information on the YSO project contact the VACCHO Yarning Straight Out Project Officer.
If you would like information on alcohol and other drugs, go to the YSO website.
We’re looking to sponsor Victorian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander senior and junior netball and football teams up to $5,000 to help promote awareness of Yarning Straight Out, at the 2018 Victorian football and netball carnivals.
Teams and clubs are invited to put forward an Expression of Interest to promote YSO, in return for funding to help cover their carnival costs.
You can download the EOI form here to help get your team to the carnival.
Yarning Straight Out is a Koolin Balit funded project.
