Cyber incident affecting VETtrak

Nov 11, 2025

Many students will be aware that our VETtrak student management software suffered an outage from 16 October 2025.

Unfortunately, VETtrak’s providers, ReadyTech Ltd, have advised that that outage resulted from a cyberattack, and that the personal information of some VACCHO students is affected. This personal information includes identity information such as Medicare numbers.

VACCHO was also told that some student documents have been published on the dark web. An injunction obtained in the NSW Supreme Court on 29 October 2025 restricts access to the dark web site. The underlying cause of the data breach is still under investigation by ReadyTech.

We have now been provided with enough information to begin the process of contacting these students by telephone and email to supply more details and advice, including ways in which we can assist them.

Any student whose contact details have changed recently is asked to send updated details to us as follows:

Email: privacy@vaccho.org.au

Post:
Attention: The Privacy Officer VACCHO
17-23 Sackville Street
Collingwood VIC 3066

There are some general steps we advise students to take to protect themselves:

  • Be aware of emails and telephone calls from people requesting your personal details, (especially things like your date of birth, residential address, email address, username or passwords which are often used to verify your identity).
  • Change your account password.

Students who experience any unusual contact or transactions could also consider: ·

  • Contacting IDCare on 1300 432 273 or visit www.idcare.org who can provide you with additional guidance on the steps you can take to protect yourself from identity fraud.
