The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) extends its congratulations to Ingrid Stitt on her new appointment as the Minister for Health.

VACCHO Acting CEO Jim O’Shea says he welcomes the wealth of experience that Minister Stitt will bring to the role from her previous portfolios.

“Ms Stitt has always been a strong supporter of Aboriginal health and wellbeing, and we especially look forward to working with her as the new co-Chair of the Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Partnership Forum.”

Ms Stitt has previously worked closely with the Forum to implement of one of the recommendations from the Coronial Inquest into Veronica Nelson’s death and progress recommendations arising from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.

“I hope that Ms Stitt and the Victorian Government’s renewed leadership brings with it a fresh energy to engaging with, investing in and listening to Aboriginal communities across the state,” he said.

VACCHO looks forward to continued partnership between Community and the Department of Health to ensure Aboriginal health remains self-determined, culturally safe and accessible.
