Educational services

Education services during COVID-19 pandemic

During the global Coronavirus pandemic, VACCHO's Education Services team are working hard to continue delivering quality education, just in a different way.

As with the rest of the country, our educators are restricted in the services that we would normally deliver and how we deliver them.

Our students currently enrolled in accredited qualification courses continue to receive ongoing teaching, via one-on-one and some F2F remote delivery.

Our educators are in touch regularly with our students via phone, email, online (via Teams and Zoom) and are able to assist with any teaching support to help our students succeed in their studies.

We have a strong supporting student engagement team who can be contacted when our educators are unavailable, please do not hesitate to give them a call on 03 9411 9411.

About us

Our Education and Training Unit, is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), is registered with the Australian Skills and Qualifications Authority (ASQA) and complies with the National VET Regulator Act and National VET Qualify Framework.

VACCHO assumed a training role in 2000 in response to an analysis of Aboriginal Health Worker training needs conducted in 1999 (Adams/Spratling). The member organisations of VACCHO (all Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations in Victoria) decided that VACCHO would deliver Aboriginal Health Worker training to its sector.

VACCHO then became a Registered Training Organisation to deliver accredited vocational education and training courses. Training delivery mainly consists of Aboriginal Health Worker qualifications. However we have recently broadened our Scope of Registration to include other qualifications. Over 95% of our students identify as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
