Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation

Ngwala was founded in 1977 by a group of Aboriginal community members who shared a common concern for the safety, health and welfare of substance affected Aboriginal people and their families, especially those that were sleeping rough in the parks and gardens of St Kilda and inner city Melbourne.  Since then, it has become one of Victoria's largest Aboriginal Corporations spanning seven sites across Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria, including three Residential Rehabilitations Centres. Ngwala delivers services that aim to address social disadvantage and create an environment for positive change for people whose lives have been impacted by alcohol and other drugs, or other disruptions to the social determinants of health, through a unique cultural lens. Services include harm minimization from substance misuse, housing and homelessness and family violence support services.
