Policy and advocacy

Quality policy and advocacy is one of VACCHO’s five strategic priorities. Our goal is to influence government policy and stakeholders to effectively address the health needs of Aboriginal people in Victoria. VACCHO advocates for the health equality and optimal health for Aboriginal people in Victoria by building upon the capacity of its Members. We do this through Member involvement in the process of policy development to advocate on their behalf and ensure the sustainability of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health services.

Advocacy is carried out at commonwealth and state levels with the public, private and community sectors on all issues relating to Aboriginal health. VACCHO is uniquely placed to engage, advise and influence government policy makers, funding bodies and other stakeholders and partners to consider how health services are developed and provided to the Aboriginal community
