A new grant of close to $2million will help the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) and its partners in its work to reduce the incidence of cervical cancer and help save Aboriginal women’s lives.

Bendigo’s Aboriginal community is rejoicing after the property title over the Bendigo and District Aboriginal Cooperative (BDAC) was lifted, and full control of the Cooperative’s assets was returned to the local Aboriginal community by Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Natalie Hutchins.

The Victorian Aboriginal Children and Young People’s Alliance (Alliance) and the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) have called for urgent system change after a Victorian Ombudsman’s investigation revealed that kinship care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their carers has seen an unacceptable number of experiences of inequality and hardship.
