The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) and Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation are pleased to announce that a dedicated Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) COVID-19 Vaccine Van will return for its second visit to Morwell this week.

Commencing on Tuesday 23 November, the ACCO Vaccine Van will be situated at 15/17 Collins Street, Morwell at the Ramahyuck Morwell Medical Clinic between 9am and 4pm.

Specialised staff will be administering Pfizer vaccines at the site for three days until Thursday 25 November at 5pm.

Additional outreach services will also be available:

  • 23 November: Outreach in and around Drouin and Warragul
  • 24 November: Outreach in and around Longwarry
  • 25 November Fixed site clinic at the Drouin Recreational Reserve (Grant Street Entrance) 9am – 4pm.

The van will be staffed by health professionals from Star Health and VACCHO.

Walk-ins with no booking required are welcome.

There will be an assortment of giveaways including VACCHO’s new ‘Protect Mob’ T-shirts designed by Yorta Yorta women Rebecca Hunt and Sarah Hunt.

VACCHO CEO Jill Gallagher is pleased to see the van returning to the region after a strong community response to the van’s first visit last month.

“As we get closer to summer holiday time it is really important for people to get vaccinated so they can enjoy time with family and friends without having to worry about restrictions.”

“Once again I’d like to thank the team at Ramahyuck who continue to do such incredible work on the ground to support the community.”

“There are a number of people in the Morwell community who have difficulty accessing transport so we believe the rollout of dedicated vaccine van will play an important part in taking the vaccine to those who have struggled to gain that important access.”

Information on regional vaccine van visits schedule across Victoria will become available on the VACCHO and Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation Facebook page.

For more information, or to have a yarn about the vaccine please contact the COVID-19 Aboriginal Infoline on 1800 312 911 which is open 9am – 5pm seven days a week.

Thanks to the Victorian Department of Health for their support with the vaccination van.
