ACCO COVID-19 Vaccine Van Heading to Shepparton

Posted by VACCHO Communications Team on 8 November 2021

The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) and Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative are pleased to announce that a dedicated Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) COVID-19 Vaccine Van will be heading to Shepparton this week.

The ACCO Vaccine Van will be providing a door-to-door outreach service for members of Community with access difficulties between 9am and 5pm on Tuesday 9 - Thursday 11 November and 9am - 1pm on Friday 12 November.

The van will be staffed by health professionals from Rumbalara, Star Health and VACCHO.

Rumbalara will also be welcoming walk-ins to a stand-in site at 95 Ford Street, Shepparton – no booking required.

There will be an assortment of giveaways including VACCHO’s new ‘Protect Mob’ T-shirts designed by Yorta Yorta women Rebecca Hunt and Sarah Hunt.

Rumbalara CEO Felicia Dean believes the ACCO van will be an excellent addition to the brilliant work that has been done by the Rumbalara team.

“I think the van will be a great asset in that it will complement the hard work our team have been doing at Rumbalara.”

“We welcome community to come and have a yarn to a GP should they have any questions about the vaccine.”

“The vaccine van will be crucial in providing assistance in bringing the vaccine to vulnerable people like our Elders - who are at the heart of our community.”

Rumbalara Executive Manager of Health and Well-being Shannon Drake is pleased to see the ACCO Vaccine van heading to Shepparton.

“The outreach van is going to provide us with greater flexibility – and assist our members of community who may experience difficulties accessing our stand-in site in Shepparton.”

“The team here at Rumbalara have done such an incredible job in providing a culturally safe environment for members of our community to be vaccinated on our Mooroopna site.”

Information regarding the vaccine van's visit to Shepparton is available on the VACCHO and Rumbalara Facebook pages.

Thanks to the Victorian Department of Health for their support with the vaccination van.
