VACCHO partners on research that supports our core business and aims to improve the health and wellbeing of and the quality of health services for Aboriginal people in Victoria. 

For more detailed guidance about engaging and conducting research with Aboriginal communities and their representative organisations, please see the following guidelines which are available on the NHMRC website:

  • Values and Ethics - Guidelines for Ethical Conduct in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Research” (NHMRC, 2003)
  •  “Keeping research on track: a guide for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples about health research ethics” (NHMRC, 2006), and the companion guide for the Aboriginal community

Please note that VACCHO does not currently have a Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).
