BreastScreen Victoria at Nairm Marr Djambana

June 3 - June 7

Free

Get your breasts checked with BreastScreen Victoria, First People’s Health and Wellbeing, and Nairm Marr Djambana

Get your breasts checked and protect yourself against breast cancer. Put your health centre stage by getting a free breast screen every two years from age 50. Regular breast screens are the best way to find breast cancer early and when treatment is most likely to be successful.

The BreastScreen mobile screening van will be visiting Nairm Marr Djambana from Monday 3 June to Friday 7 June. Your free breast screen will be done in a culturally safe environment with a female radiographer and will only take 10 minutes.

For more information contact First People’s Health and Wellbeing on 03 9070 8181.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women will receive a FREE beautiful shawl (below) to use during the screening that they can keep afterwards.

The artwork on this beautiful shawl was designed by the talented Yorta Yorta , Wemba Wemba, Mutti Mutti and Wiradjuri artist, Alkina Edwards.

This artwork represents women empowerment, resilience and strong spirits.
Within the background I have placed symbols that represent our beautiful countries and women gatherings. Showing the physical and spiritual connection we have with the land and each other.
At the front of the design I have visual figures of women. This is to depict women supporting, empowering and leaning on each other through these experiences while creating cultural safe spaces for women to express themselves and share their stories.
