Webinar Presenters

Aboriginal Quitline
Aboriginal Quitline (AQL) 13 7848 is a free* telephone counselling service delivered by Aboriginal counsellors across VIC, SA, WA and NT. AQL supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities to quit smoking or vaping. AQL can also support mob if they’re using vapes to quit the smokes.

Culture is at the centre of everything AQL does, bringing our traditional ways of yarning into the counselling. AQL counsellors respect Men’s and Women’s Business. AQL is a safe space for members of the LGBTIQA+ community.

Dr. Jon Gillies
Dr Jon is a GP (FRACGP) and a Public Health Medical Officer (MPH&TM) at VACCHO. He has been working in Community primary care settings since graduating from his MBBS course in 2012 and is passionate about patient centred care, shared decision making and patient autonomy. It is his hope that this presentation may be useful to all persons with clinical or non-clinical backgrounds, and can be a resource to assist any Community members, no matter their stage of change – whether it be for themselves, a friend, a family member, or a patient

Belinda Donaldson
Belinda is a Project Officer at VACCHO with a portfolio in smoking and vaping cessation. Since completing an undergraduate degree in Public Health and Health Promotion in 2015, she has been working in Aboriginal Health for almost 10 years in various roles; working with Communities and the ACCO sector to reduce smoking and vaping prevalence. Belinda hopes the presentations will be beneficial to all ACCO staff providing quit smoking support for Community, and more broadly including friends, family, and other members of the Community.
